Dewsall Court Wedding

Alison & Rich were married at Dewsall Court, Herefordshire, in August. Regular visitors to my old blog will know that Dewsall is one of my most favourite wedding venues! Their summer wedding was absolutely beautiful, and made more so by the amazing abundance of flowers by Love Lily – I’ve never seen the church porch so thick with blooms! Alison’s gorgeous lace dress is from Satin Bow at St Albans, and her bridesmaids are wearing glamorous gold sparkly dresses. Hair is by Angie of Bridal Beauty, and makeup is by Sam of Indulge Beauty. I loved so many things about this wedding, including the ‘Family Tree’ of family photos hung in the tree by the Wainhouse, the Mr & Mrs giant balloons, and the personalised games of ‘Guess Who?’ on the dining tables, featuring the faces of their guests. So much fun! Here are a few favourite wedding photos from their day – I hope you enjoy seeing their story! Huge thanks to Alison & Rich for having me there!

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you again for our gorgeous wedding pictures!! The USB arrived on Saturday and we are so happy with them, we can’t wait to get some prints and start making albums! Thank you for our lovely card and chocolates too – a lovely touch and very thoughtful!
Thank you for being so great on the day, for being so patient with us and blending into the background. We are so happy we had you with us on the day and you’ve given us some amazing memories to look back on, we can’t thank you enough! Best wishes for the future and thank you again”.

Lyde Court Wedding Venue

Bea & Gareth were married at the amazing rural barn wedding venue Lyde Court in Herefordshire in September. They had such a wonderful sunny day! I loved this wedding because it was so relaxed and happy. Everyone got involved with the preparations, and I think Bea’s mum had the most roles of anyone at a wedding ever, being the florist, the baker, and also actually doing their marriage ceremony! Bea and her bridesmaids got ready in Lyde Court’s white room, and later on the legal registration of their marriage took place here too. Bea’s beautiful wedding dress is a Ti Adora by Alvina Valentia – I love that it has two styling options, with a romantic, floaty embroidered top layer for the day, removable to the satin dress underneath for the evening’s partying. The bridesmaids dresses (from ASOS) were all different, in shades of light pastel peaches, with lace and sequins. Hair is by Clare Davies of The Cutting Room, and makeup is by Sam of Samantha Claire Makeup. Guests enjoyed specially named cocktails, the Bea-llini and the Gin Collins, in the sunny rolling hills of Herefordshire, before heading into the barn for more merriment and dancing into the evening. It was an incredible day – thank you so much to Bea & Gareth for having me there to capture it! I absolutely loved every minute.

“We just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the wonderful wedding photos. We sat down to look at them on Saturday night and were completely blown away but how fantastic they were. There are so many wonderful candid shots spanning the whole day, from the morning preparations through to the end-of-night party – and you managed to capture the whole spectrum of moments and emotions from the sentimental and romantic, through to the hilarious and drunken. You really captured the spirit of the day – it was like re-living the wedding all over again, through loads of different points of view! They really are a beautiful set of images, thank you xxx”

Homme House Wedding Venue

In 2018 I had the pleasure of photographing lots of wonderful weddings at one of my most beloved Herefordshire venues, Homme House. Here is a big mashup blog post which features some favourite photos from all of those lovely weddings! Hopefully this will show you what a fabulous venue Homme House is, with possibilities for weddings indoors, in the church on the estate, as well as ceremonies outside in the wildflower meadow by the summer house. And options for the wedding breakfast in the dining room or in a marquee in the gardens. Plus all nestled in such a beautiful setting in the Herefordshire countryside! It was great to be able to work with lots of fab suppliers at all these weddings too, including Love Lily florist, Jenny Fleur Florist, Herefordshire Flower Studio, Wedding Paint, Amy Bemand Hair, Amelia Bourne Hair & Makeup, A to Zest Catering, The Hereford Balloon Shop, and the amazing Hypnogician. Huge congratulations to all the brides and grooms who were married at Homme House – thank you for having me there on your wedding days! Curradine Barns Wedding Photography

Wedding at Curradine Barns

Emma & Ben were married at rustic venue Curradine Barns in Worcestershire in May. Their wedding date was the same as the Royal Wedding of Meghan & Harry, and we watched their ceremony on Emma’s phone as Emma was getting ready for her own wedding! Emma & Ben’s wedding was much better than the Royals’ though. They definitely had more fun! They had beautiful flowers by Jenny Fleur, and Emma had two dresses, changing in to a shorter tea-length dress for their ceilidh in the evening. She teamed this with sparkley Kate Spade pumps! Hair & makeup was by Sally Logue & Rebecca Frances, and their cake was by Kimmy Loves Cake. Music during the reception was provided by Nero String Quartet, and their ceidlh was expertly called by Knitter’s Jig – it was such a hot day but the dancefloor was packed with guests spinning and stripping the willow! Here are a few favourite pictures from their wedding. Huge thanks to Emma & Ben for having me there, it was such a fab day! We have just designed their wedding album so it has been really lovely to put their favourite pictures into the book.

” Thank you so much, you were the best wedding photographer ever and have captured so many precious moments for us to cherish over the years. We have already poured over them so many times and shed a few tears!”

Amazing! If you are looking for a wedding photographer, please do take a look at my website and get in touch. I love fun weddings like this one! Thanks again to Emma & Ben x

Birtsmorton Court Wedding Photography

Sophie & James were married in September at the stunning moated manor house venue Birtsmorton Court in Worcestershire. You may recognise Sophie – she is the weddings manager at Birtsmorton Court and so it was a real honour to photograph her own wedding! Sophie sees many, many lovely weddings at Birtsmorton Court, so she had lots of amazing ideas for how her own day would go. I absolutely love her styling, her flowers and her colour scheme. There’s plenty of inspiration for your own wedding in the photos that follow! The most important thing for her and James though was that they just wanted to be able to relax and have fun with their family & friends. They certainly did that – it was the most fabulous day! With the sun shining warmly on the terrace reception by the moat, and the continental sounds of an accordionist drifting through the merry laughter, chatter and bubbles, it was like being in another world – what wonderful memories. Sophie’s gorgeous dress is ‘Latin’ by Nicola Anne Bridal, from The Bridal Room Broadway. Hair and makeup is by Anna White. The spectacular flowers are by Sally Gill, filled with red and peach blooms, and the cake is by Sophie’s clever mum. The wild dancing in the evening was fueled by music from the always-excellent Chip Shop Boys. These guys really know how to party! It was the best day and I LOVED every minute of it – massive congratulations to Sophie & James, and huge thanks for having me there to capture it all x

Here’s what they said when they saw their photos:

“Hey Gemma,

We’re just coming to the end of our most amazing honeymoon and the best three weeks of our lives. Our wedding was the most perfect day for us and we can’t thank you enough for your presence on the day. It felt like we had a friend around taking photos and you made us feel really comfortable in front of the camera. We love all of these amazing pictures… We’ve been amazed at how you’ve managed to capture everyone who came to the day in such a lovely way and we are absolutely delighted with all of the shots of the two of us as well. We’d always said that if we got one nice one to frame, that’s all we need. Now, choosing which ones we put in a frame will be the difficult bit! So thank you, thank you, thank you, these pictures have just topped off our absolutely perfect wedding day, we’ll look back at them with the fondest memories.

With our very best wishes xx”

So without further ado, here are some favourites from Sophie & James’s amazing wedding day x

Katherine & Ian were married at spectacular Dewsall Court in Herefordshire at the end of July. Dewsall is one of my favourite venues and I have raved about it on the blog many times before! It’s a popular country house for weekend stays and it really does feel like your own home while you are there. You can get married inside the house itself or in the newly-refurbished Wainhouse Barn, or you can get married in the charming church in the grounds, or outside in the garden. You really are spoilt for choice at Dewsall and can really make your wedding how you want it to be.

Katherine & Ian had the most perfect summer weather for their outdoor ceremony under the canopy on the Dewsall Court lawn. Katherine’s wedding dress was made especially for her by her friend, the talented British couture designer Nicholas Oakwell. I love the delicate beading in the leaf design, and the elegant cut of the dress – stunning! Katherine’s makeup was by Debbie Stone and hair by Sheena’s Wedding Hairstyles. The amazing flowers were by Wildbunch Flowers – I always adore her beautiful blooms, they are just like paintings.  After the ceremony, guests mingled in the garden at the front of the house at the relaxed reception, interspersed with speeches (both touching and hilarious) from the stairs. Then it was time to move down to the Wainhouse for the feasting and fun. A Black Cab Photobooth was greeted with much delight! It was such a pleasant evening that guests stayed outside sitting around the fire, so the versatile Super Tenants band moved outside to the firepit with them and put on an impromptu outdoor acoustic set with singing around the campfire! The party ended with sparklers – what an incredible wedding day! Huge congratulations to Katherine & Ian – thank you so much for having me there, it was an absolute honour. Here are a few favourites to tell the story of their day… x

Here’s what they said when I sent them their photographs:

“Hello from Lake Como! We have WiFi here so have been able to look through the photos and they are absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Thank you for capturing every part of the ‎best day of our lives so beautifully, we couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to share them with our friends and family. Thanks again Gemma, you have a wonderful talent x”

Deer Park Hall Wedding Photography

Deerpark Hall Wedding Photography

Emma & Rob were married in July at Claines Church, Worcestershire, and went on to celebrate at fabulous Deer Park Hall. I love this venue – it has absolutely stunning views of the Malvern Hills, and real deer roaming in the grounds! Nestled in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, it used to be cattle sheds on a farm but has now been converted into a unique country house wedding venue. Emma & Rob had a yellow colour theme for their wedding, with yellow dresses for the bridesmaids, and yellow bouquets and floral decorations – so bright and cheerful, and perfect for the sunny summer’s day. I will let the pictures tell the story – congratulations Emma & Rob! x

Nat & Ben had an epic wedding at Iscoyd Park wedding venue in Shropshire on a beautiful summer’s day in July. Iscoyd Park is one of the most amazing venues that I have the pleasure of shooting weddings at, and every time I go there it just seems to get better and better! (I could quite happily take up permanent residence in one of their sumptuous new bedrooms).  Nat & Ben had the most perfect wedding day, with guests mingling amongst the flowers in the garden during the reception, and with lots more flowers inside too, thanks to the incredible talents of Red Floral Architecture. There was croquet on the lawns, then laughter and feasting amidst candle-lit blossom trees, and dancing into the night. What an amazing wedding! It was an honour to be there to capture it all – congratulations to Nat & Ben on your special day! Here are a few favourites… x
