Wow, here we are at the beginning of 2019. I can’t believe how quickly 2018 went by!

In this little patch of calm I like to reflect back on the incredible year just gone, and put together a blog post of some of my favourite pictures from 2018 weddings. As always, I have far too many favourites and it’s been really difficult to narrow it down! 2018 was such an amazing wedding year, with some fabulous highlights that I will always remember. It was a long hot summer, with many weddings being blessed with endless sunshine (as well as some epic thunder storms!). I was lucky enough to shoot at some super new wedding venues, such as Davenport House and Aston Marina, as well as making frequent return visits to my favourite venues, such as Homme House, Dewsall Court, Birtsmorton Court, Curradine Barns, Iscoyd Park, Elmore Court, and Lyde Court in Herefordshire. There was a lot of flossing, a record amount of outdoor ceremonies, a surprise video appearance by Ronaldo, more than one dinosaur (some of them golden), a handful of swords, a netball team, miles of bunting, millions of Polaroids, a flock of flamingos, the best Beer Pong championship ever, the real Royal Wedding (move over Harry & Meghan), a sprinkling of ceilidhs, one bump, and a whole alphabet of giant letter lights. Not to mention all the love, hugs, and laughter!

On a personal note, despite all the fun and happiness of the weddings, it was a very sad year for me as I lost my dear Dad to cancer in July. He was so very proud of me and my career as a wedding photographer – I hadn’t realised quite how proud he was until he was staying in St Michael’s Hospice and kept telling all the nurses who his daughter was! He used to love hearing about all my weddings, and was a regular visitor to the blog. Knowing how proud he was of me and how happy he was that I found my calling in life is a huge comfort to me, and I want to continue to do an amazing job to make my customers happy and to make him happy too. I’ll know he’ll be watching my future wedding adventures, and will be telling everyone up there who I am! Dad, this one’s for you.

So… here is a (brief) round up of some favourite wedding highlights from 2018! I will be blogging lots of weddings over the coming weeks too, so keep a look out for those! As ever, a massive thank you to my brides and grooms of 2018 for having me at your weddings – it is always such a huge honour to be there to capture your memories for you, and you really made my year. Looking forward to 2019’s weddings now – can’t wait for wedding season to get underway again! Hope you enjoy the pictures…

Lots of love, and a very happy and healthy 2019,

Gemma x
